Control Tower, Banff (Boyndie) Airfield

The Control Tower at Banff (Boyndie) Airfield is a disused Second World War structure built in 1943 and renovated in 1976. It is a two-storey, flat-roofed building with a rectangular plan and features cantilevered balconies. The exterior is made of rendered brick with concrete balconies.

On the northeast elevation, there are three horizontal windows at ground level leading to a full-width balcony that wraps around the outer angles, along with three additional windows on the first floor. The northwest elevation has a narrow vertical opening to the left of centre and a horizontal opening to the outer left, with three regularly spaced windows to the right. There is also a further window to the left on the first floor, above the balcony, and a small window to the right.

The southeast elevation includes a door to the right of centre at ground level, accompanied by a horizontal window to the right (under the balcony) and two additional windows to the left. There is another door with an adjacent window leading to the balcony on the right, along with two windows to the left and a small canopy projecting from the centre above.

The southwest elevation, which may serve as the entrance, features a door off-centre to the right at ground level, two small windows to the left, and a tiny window to the outer right. There is a vertical stair window to the right of centre, another vertical window off-centre to the right on the first floor, and two windows to the left. Some replacement steel window frames are still present.
