Description
The Dovecot at Boyne Castle, likely built in the 17th century, is a rectangular gabled structure with long north and south elevations. It is constructed of rubble with tooled rubble dressings. The south elevation features a narrow entrance with chamfered jambs. A single rat course encircles the building, with a second course returning across each gable and a small vent positioned above. The gables are crowstepped, and the slate roof is in poor condition.
Inside, the dovecot is lined with approximately 750 stone nesting boxes, each supported by rubble verticals and stone-slate horizontal members.
