Description

The Control Tower at Findo Gask Airfield, built around 1940 and opened in 1941, is a three-storey, square-plan structure with a flat roof. It is a disused Second World War control tower designed in the standard style of Royal Naval Air Stations, featuring a cantilevered balcony. The building is constructed from brick and cellular concrete, with concrete cills and light railings on both the balcony and rooftop.

On the south elevation, the entrance features a broad door at the center, flanked by narrow vertical windows, with an additional similar window to the outer right. The first floor has one window in the center, two smaller windows to the left, a tall narrow stair window to the right, and a tiny window to the outer right. The second floor includes further windows in the center and left bays.

The east elevation displays variously-sized openings that are asymmetrically arranged on each floor. The second floor has a cantilevered balcony that wraps around the angle to the right, with an access ladder to the roof on the left.

On the west elevation, the ground floor has two windows in the center and to the right. The first floor features three windows in the center and to the right, along with a narrow vertical window to the left and a tiny window beyond. The second floor has a broad door to the left, a balcony wrapping around the angle, and a single window to the right.

Some metal-framed casement windows remain in the building. The interior was only seen in 2002, revealing small rooms divided by brick and a concrete staircase.
