Description
Gask House is a building designed by Richard Crichton between 1801 and 1805. Originally, it was a three-storey structure with a low second floor and a basement. The southern center of the building was raised to create a second floor, featuring a Venetian window and a pediment. Although the top floor and chimneys have been removed, the southern front has been preserved at its original height, and the interior was remodeled by Claude Phillimore and Jenkins between 1964 and 1966. The southern front is constructed of ashlar and features five windows, with the ground-floor windows set in arched recesses. There is a four-column Ionic portico, with a Venetian window above it flanked by square recesses. The building has five bays with Doric links leading to one-and-a-half storey wings, which have three windows, including a single center window set in an arched recess of the advanced center bay.
