7 Waughton Place, Johnshaven

This is a late 18th century, two-storey, and attic, three-bay house located at 7 Waughton Place, Johnshaven, originally known as the Old Brewer's House. The exterior is constructed from squared rubble with tooled and chamfered dressings. The ground floor has a distinctive fenestration pattern of doors and windows alternating - one door, originally boarded, with a mid-19th century panelled door and fixed 12-pane glazing to the left, a central window with 8 lying-panes, and an 8-pane window to the right. The first floor has three 12-pane regular sash and case windows. The roof is corrugated asbestos with straight skews, moulded skewputts, and brick end stacks. A single-storey rear wing is present, covered with a stone slate roof, and a small attic window is visible in the gable. The former Brewery Buildings, associated with the house, have been demolished.
