Description
This is an 1891 lifeboat station, built on the Shorehead in Johnshaven, facing the harbour. The building is constructed from large red sandstone ashlar blocks with stugged margins. It features a wide, 4-centred arched doorway. The deep eaves have wave-pattern bargeboards, and there's an apex finial. The roof is slate, with roof lights. A smaller, 4-centred archway provides access to the rear, above which is a 6-light window. The station is referenced in a survey of Johnshaven published in 1982.
