Walled Garden, Clydesdale Bank, 18-19 Shore Street, Macduff

The outbuilding of the Clydesdale Bank, located at 18-19 Shore Street in Macduff, was designed by James Matthews in 1868. It is a three-storey, gabled T-plan structure that serves as both a bank and a banker's house. The building features harled walls with tooled and polished ashlar margins and dressings.

The gable wing, which faces Shore Street, has two bays that project outward and includes paired windows on the ground and first floors, along with a single gable attic window at the center. To the west, there is a single-storey, narrow three-bay wing that contains the bank entrance, with the bays marked by slender engaged columns that rise above the wallhead and end in ball finials.

At the northeast angle, there is a corbelled bartizan. The windows primarily feature two-pane glazing. The building has coped end stacks, slate roofs, and crowstepped gables.

At the rear, there is a rubble-walled garden that is bordered by Institution and Church Street. Additionally, there is a single-storey outbuilding that backs onto Church Street; this outbuilding is harled, has a single margined end stack, and a slate roof.
