Description
The Gordon Arms Hotel, located at 34 The Square in Huntly, is a late 19th-century building that stands three storeys high with an attic and features three bays. It is constructed from coursed, dressed granite. The building has bull-faced granite pilasters that flank a centrally recessed doorway. Above the porch, there is a wide canted five-light bay window that projects, topped with a parapet and a semi-circular plaque that encloses a re-used crest. A string course runs between the first and second floors, linking to the bay window parapet. The slightly advanced central bay on the second floor rises through the eaves to form a truncated pyramidal roof, which is adorned with cast-iron crown brattishing. The roof also features three jerkin-headed dormers with margin glazing, stilted heads on the outer first-floor windows, and mock angle turrets at the wallhead. Additionally, there are corniced end stacks and a slate roof with tiled cresting.
