80 Union Street, 78, Aberdeen

80 Union Street and 78, Aberdeen, is a monumental Classical bank building designed by Jenkins & Marr in 1929. It is a three-storey structure with an attic, featuring a square plan and three bays on each side, prominently located on a corner site. The building is constructed from grey granite ashlar and is distinguished by a pair of giant Corinthian columns that separate the vertically emphasized recessed bays on each elevation.

The design includes a deep base course, a substantial dentilled cornice, and a shallow blocking course at the recessed attic storey. The entrance on the Union Street elevation features a substantial two-leaf studded metal door with a decorative pedimented doorcase, and chamfered doorpieces are present in the outer bays. Wide shallow pilasters separate the bays of the attic storey, and decorative metal panels are located between the ground and first storey windows. The windows are predominantly six-pane metal-framed, and the building has a flat roof.
