Description
The Smoke House at 6A Raik Road is likely from the early to mid-20th century. It is a small, rectangular building made of red brick with a mono-pitch roof. A distinctive feature of this smoke house is its paired tower-like ventilator shafts, which have four vertically arranged ventilators.
On the southwest elevation, the building is mostly hidden by a slightly lower structure that projects at ground level. The corrugated roof of the mono-pitch design extends over small towers at the back; the left tower has a gabled roof, while the right tower has a flat roof.
Inside, the kiln can be accessed from the first floor of the adjoining building. There is evidence of timberwork used for suspending tenters.
