Description
Kennerty Mills, located on Kennerty Mills Road in Peterculter, dates back to 1838, although it incorporates earlier masonry. The building suffered a fire in 1942, leading to additions and rebuilding between 1942 and 1943. It is a two-storey structure built from rubble, designed in an L-shape with a brick kiln situated at the angle, featuring a horse vane at the vent. The mill has two external start-and-awe double runged iron frames, each supporting 14-foot wheels—one for barley and the other for meal—fed by a bi-furcated lade. The mill is complete and currently in use, with later additions.
