Description
Grennan Mill is a building with a datestone that records its foundation as 1506. The current structure was mostly rebuilt in the late 18th century and again in 1834, when much of the machinery and the wheel were installed. It is a two-storey building made of painted rubble with a slate roof, and it has an adjacent kiln that is now used as a store. The mill features a 14-foot diameter cast-iron, 10-spoke high breast wheel. The mill was last operational around 1950, and most of the internal gearing remains intact and operable. There are three pairs of millstones located at the mezzanine level.
