Description

John Rennie, 1820-1. 5-arch granite bridge spanning River Ken

with curving roadway at Balmaclellan/Kells parish boundaries. Symmetrical bridge of 5 graduated segmental arches, centre

arch with widest span of 100ft approximately; 350ft

approximately span in all. All masonry rock faced granite

except polished granite soffits and inner face of parapet.

Round-nosed cutwater piers on river bed; pilasters at

spandrels. Bull-nosed string-course to base of parapet,

splayed abutments.
