Description
This is an earlier 19th-century octagonal garden building situated on sloping ground, likely originally a toolshed with a dovecot positioned above. The structure is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings. The upper stage features a door with a keystoned octagonal oculus above it. A further opening on the rear face, also to the upper stage, is located at a higher ground level. There are square flight-hole openings under the eaves, two to each face, each containing four small panes of glass. The roof is covered in grey slates and is polygonal in shape. The garden building is situated within the gardens of Overton House (which is not included in current listings), and its design suggests it functioned as a toolshed rather than a summerhouse. The interior, which was not inspected in 1989, requires examination to confirm whether the building ever served as a dovecot.
