Description

The pier at Balintraid was constructed in 1817 by Thomas Telford. It is a long structure built of roughly squared, tool-faced rubble stone. The seaward end curves, and a high rubble wall with a coping runs continuously along the southwestern side, offering protection. The seaward end of the pier is now in a state of disrepair. Further information can be found in John Hume’s The Industrial Archaeology of Scotland, volume 2, page 289.
