Former Court House, Main Street, Forkhill, Newry, Co Armagh, BT35 9SQ

The former Court House stood on Main Street, Forkhill, Newry, County Armagh, and was demolished and replaced by shops and apartments. The building, constructed between 1820 and 1839, is shown on the 1835 Ordnance Survey six-inch map. While its exact size and form remain uncertain, it may have been the market house mentioned in the Valuation Book, and was identified as a Petty Sessions House in the 1864 Valuation Book. It was described in a 1970 survey as a two-storey block with an enclosed staircase leading to the Court House. The first floor contained offices, and the ground floor included public toilets. The building had four first-floor windows with double-hung sashes and vertical astragals. The roof was slated, and the walls were of roughcast, with recent reconstruction of the ground floor. It was reported to be in good condition, with approximately 48 feet of frontage.
