The dwelling at 44 Lurganreagh Road, Lurganreagh, Kilkeel, Newry, was likely constructed between 1800 and 1819. It is now demolished and replaced with a modern dwelling on the same site. The building appears on the 1834 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map and is also referenced in the 1830s valuation rolls, suggesting it was probably two storeys high. According to a 1972 Historic Monuments and Buildings Board survey card, the original building was a two-storey, three-bay house with a harled and whitened exterior, a slated roof, and a rendered chimney on the other gable. It featured a lean-to porch and Georgian-style glazing to the ground floor, which had been slightly altered. A photograph shows that two bays were two-storey in height while the third was single-storey. The central bay had a flat porch slightly to the right, and a 6/4 exposed box sash window to its right (with the bottom sash altered) and a painted cill; overgrowth obscured the window to the left bay. At the first floor, three 6/3 sash windows were aligned with the ground floor openings. A similar house, also somewhat altered, stood to the north. The site has industrial archaeological interest.
