Description

Bavan Bridge carries a single-lane road over a small stream, a tributary of the Clanrye River. It is a small-scale, segmental bridge likely dating to the early 19th century, between 1800 and 1819. The bridge is constructed of random granite rubble, with a coped parapet formed from large granite blocks that returns for a short distance to the northeast. The abutments and facing surfaces have been heavily repointed with cement. The bridge was shown on the 1834 Ordnance Survey map and was explicitly named "Bavan Br" on the 1860 edition. It is of industrial archaeological interest.
