10 Belfast Road, Newry, Co Down

The building at 10 Belfast Road, Newry, Co Down, was a single-storey house, originally dating before 1834. It featured rendered walls and a hipped slated roof supported by modillions. The doorway and windows were set within semi-circular headed recesses, and the eight-pane casement windows were protected by grilles. A symmetrical house of roughly 33 feet by 17 feet 6 inches, with a return of 12 feet by 15 feet by 6 feet 6 inches, was depicted beside turnpike gates on a 1771 map of Carneyhough. The building served as a toll house and was described as having low architectural interest in a 1970 survey. It was demolished in the 1980s or 1990s. The site possesses industrial archaeological interest. It was delisted on 25th July 1985.
