Description
One of a pair of two-storey/two-bay detached houses set back on east side of Downshire Road (see also HB16/26/024A). Hipped artificial slate roof with a pitched return roof tied in at rear centre. Rendered chimney, with five decorative octagonal terracotta pots, sits parallel with façade, behind central ridge, on rear pitch. Rainwater goods are semicircular metal with downpipes to left and right elevations. All walls are painted wet dash with smooth raised eaves course and chamfered smooth render base course. Wall to facade has smooth rendered stepped quoins to left and right, and a smooth render platband running across just above meeting rail level of windows to both floors. There is no door to this elevation. Three 1/1 sliding sash windows to each floor, in line but asymmetrically placed. All have smooth render architraves and painted granite cills. First floor windows are diminished in height. Left elevation has quoins to right corner and is without openings or base course. Circular metal downpipe to middle of wall. Wall continues to ground floor left as right cheek of rear single-storey extension (see later). Right elevation is abutted at right by an open wet-dashed porch with pitched artificial slate roof. Front door is set within an original elliptical opening with modern sidelights and a t+g sheeted transom panel. Wall is blank save for a 3/3 sliding sash window above porch. It is without horns, has a painted granite cill, smooth render architraves, and modern security grill over. Rear elevation is abutted to centre by a two storey gabled return, and to ground floor right is a single storey modern extension which wraps around gable of middle return at ground floor. Remaining wall to rear elevation of main block is wet dashed, and has at right on ground floor a modern top-hung window (with painted granite cill and modern grill over). Above it, at first floor, is a small fixed window without cill. The return roof ties into main roof (but has lower eaves). Gable of rear return is abutted at ground floor by lean to extension and is blank above. Its right cheek is blank. On left cheek, between ground and first floor, is a tall opening with casement window, painted granite cill, and modern grill over. One-storey extension has a lean-to modern tiled roof with bargeboards and painted wet dashed walls. Its left cheek abuts rear return and its right cheek is blank. Rear wall has a modern 2/1 top-hung casement with concrete cill to right and a modern sheet metal door to left. Setting Front garden has recently been cleared and covered in stone chippings. Rest of the front area is in tarmac. To rear is a two storey modern outhouse building with dashed walls and profiled sheet metal roof.
