Description
A two storey/ three-bay vernacular house aligned SW-NE on W side of Carrickbroad Road. It is set back from road in a maturely planted site with hedgerow boundary. Pitched natural slate roof with a chimney between each bay. That to left is wet-dashed and that to right is cement rendered. An advanced brick eaves course supports half-round metal rainwater goods, with downpipe to each end of facade. Walls are lime rendered rubble stone. Principal elevation faces SE. Left bay has a door opening (formerly a window) to ground floor. Central bay is wider than the others - set at left is a projecting porch with a window to its right. Porch has a pitched natural slate roof with a 1/1 exposed box sliding sash window with horns and granite cill to its front face (all are as this unless otherwise stated). Right cheek contains t+g sheeted entrance door with central cast-iron door-pull. Left cheek is blank. Right bay has a similarly detailed window. Aligned above to first floor are four windows; all slightly diminished in height. Left gable has small window to first floor centre (now without frame). Rear elevation of left bay is blank. Central bay has an infilled door opening with timber lintel to centre; to its left is a 2x3 metal framed casement. To its right, at first floor, is a 2/2 sliding sash window, detailed as before. Right bay is abutted by the remains of a single-storey outbuilding. This has a monopitched slate roof, now gone. Doorway on right cheek; remaining walls are blank. No doorway connection with main block. Right gable is abutted by a ruinous lean-to; the exposed section has a window to first floor centre. The apex is cement rendered. Lean-to has a monopitched roof, now gone and random rubble walls. Door in SE face; other walls blank. Setting: The house is set back from road in a mature site with hedgerow boundary.
