Description

Single storey/ two bay vernacular house on W side of Ballyvally Road. Pitched natural slate roof with cement rendered and coped chimney to each gable. Rendered skews. Raised eaves course supports metal rainwater goods. Walls are cement dashed and painted with smooth rendered and painted base course. Principal elevation faces E. Left bay has a 1/1 sliding sash with horns, smooth rendered and painted architrave, painted cill; all other windows are identical unless otherwise stated. To its right is entrance porch, with pitched natural slate roof and carved bargeboard. Walls are line rendered and painted. Left and right cheeks are blank. Modern timber door with glazed upper section to front. Right bay has a sash window. Left gable is blank. Rear elevation is built into slope. It is abutted to centre and left by single storey return with pitched natural slate roof. Walls are line rendered and unpainted. Date ‘1958’ is inscribed in the render. Exposed right bay has a sash window set to right; and to its left is a small rectangular light set at higher level. Return has a top-hung metal casement window to rear (W) with rendered cill and a similar window to left (N) cheek. Right gable is abutted by a lower single storey outbuilding with corrugated metal roof and walls as façade. Door is t+g sheeted and set to the left. This outbuilding is abutted to its right gable by a lean-to outbuilding (of no interest). The remainder of the right gable of the main block has a triangular opening with slate cill to gable apex. Setting. Front yard is enclosed by rendered rubble cylindrical stone pillars with concrete caps. They carry a pair of wrought-iron gates with twisted finials and dog-bars . To S end of yard is a single storey outbuilding with pitched corrugated metal roof and rendered rubble stone walls (of no interest). To N end of house is a similar pair of pillars and gates to small garden.
