Description
A lime-rendered masonry gate-screen creating an notable entrance to Forkhill House (HB16/15/031A). It is aligned NW-SE along the E side of Captains Road with lime rendered rubble granite walls (to courses), ashlar quoins and oversailing coping stones. The four-centred arch has ashlar granite jambs, voussoirs and keystone. It supports a pair of tall cast-iron gates with fleur-de-lis finials and a quatrefoil panel surmounted by later row of flower heads. The gate screen is abutted by a quarter-height rubble stone boundary wall with stone copings.
