Description

This is one of a pair of mirror-image houses built between 1900 and 1919 on the north-west side of Great George’s Street in Warrenpoint, County Down. The house has been extensively altered and lacks original architectural features.

It is a two-and-a-half-storey, two-bay house located at the south-west end of a terrace. The roof is artificial slate, with a rebuilt red brick chimney on the right gable. An advanced eaves course supports half-round plastic gutters. There are two dormers: a canted dormer over the right bay and a modern dormer on the left, which is paired with the adjoining property. The right dormer has a canted artificial slate roof with a central top-hung casement window and fixed sidelights, and artificial slated cheeks. The left dormer has a flat roof and contains a modern top-hung casement window, and shares a dormer cheek with the adjoining house. The front of the house, which faces south-east towards the street, is cement-dashed and painted. Below the eaves level, a moulded stucco plaque reading "1908" is shared with the adjoining house. The right bay has a two-storey canted bay with a concealed flat roof and concrete coping. Each face of the bay on each floor has a single modern top-hung casement window with a painted concrete sill. A lean-to porch, also shared with the adjoining house, fills the ground floor to the left of the bay. The porch has an artificial slate roof supported by small carved timber brackets and a modern stained timber door with six raised and fielded panels, a plain transom above, and a modern timber wall mounted plaque reading "Glen-Rosa." A window above the porch mirrors the design of the bay windows. A small, enclosed front garden is bounded by a painted and rendered wall. The left gable is fully attached to the adjoining house. The rear and right elevations are also abutted by neighbouring properties.

The house first appears in the 1910 Valuation Revision book, and was occupied from 1912.
