Description

A roadside hand-operated water pump dating from between 1920 and 1939. The pump has a plain metal shaft decorated with two bands, and a straight handle with a slight curve at the end. It features a fluted head, cap, and spout, the latter having a lug. A flag trademark symbol is visible on the shaft. The pump stands within a small walled and fenced enclosure. Associated with the neighbouring houses, which were constructed after 1929 and are not depicted on the Ordnance Survey map of 1919 or mentioned in the Valuation revision books from 1866 to 1929. The pump is of industrial archaeological interest.
