Description

A one storey (+ attic)/ two-bay house set perpendicular to the east side of Sandy Brae. Small extensions to left right and to rear. Pitched natural slate roof with cement coped verges and semicircular metal rainwater goods. Rendered chimney to each gable; that at left has been re-rendered. All walls are render cement (lined to front). Principal elevation faces south. Entrance is set left of centre and comprises of a partly glazed painted (modern) timber door set within a shallow projecting porch with pitched natural slate roof and plain painted timber bargeboards. To left of door and to right bay is a window opening, now sheeted over. The left gable is abutted by a one storey flat-roofed extension. At attic level is a 1/1 sliding sash window. Left gable of extension has a narrow square chimney rising almost to ridge level of the house. To the front elevation of this extension is a window opening, sheeted over. Right half of rear elevation is abutted by a one storey lean-to extension. Exposed section of main block blank. Extension has an asbestos sheeted roof and extension wall is smooth cement rendered. Two equally spaced two-pane timber casements with concrete cills to rear wall. Left cheek has a partly glazed modern timber door. The right cheek is blank. The right gable is rendered and whitewashed. This elevation has one small 1/1 window at attic level. It is abutted by a flat roof concrete block shed now mainly demolished. Flat roofed modern garage situated parallel to and in front of house. Walls rendered and painted. ‘1951’ date inscribed on gable.
