Outbuilding, Carrowmaculla, Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh, BT92 5BR

This unusual two-bay, two-storey outbuilding is situated on an exposed and isolated site near Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh, accessed by lanes off Ballagh Road. Built between 1820 and 1839, it is partially ruinous and set into a bank, aligned east-west behind the main house (HB12/01/074B). The building is constructed of squared and coursed sandstone blocks with tooled quoins and some tooled dressing stones, with the principal gable facing south. The left bay at ground floor has a door opening to the left and a window to the right; the right bay is a mirror image, its window featuring two vertical cast-iron bars. All openings retain heavy sandstone lintels. A small, central window opening on the first floor is infilled with tongue and groove sheeting. The western elevation is abutted to the right end by a set of nine external stone steps leading to a loading door at first floor and the raised bank at the rear. The north gable is single-storey and blank. The eastern elevation has a large semi-elliptical arched opening with tooled jambs and a voussoired head, located at ground floor to the right, and a 2x4 metal-framed side-hung casement window on the first floor, set to the left of centre. The roof was originally pitched with corrugated metal, but has now collapsed. The building appears on the 1834 Ordnance Survey six-inch map.
