Description

This is a cast iron water pump, likely dating from between 1880 and 1899, and manufactured by Christie’s of Coleraine. Situated within a farmyard, it stands against the wall of a former cottage, now an outbuilding. The pump is in good working order and retains good condition. It is of local industrial heritage interest. The main body of the pump is fluted, resting upon a moulded shaft, and features a cow-tailed handle. The frame is marked with the name "Christie of Coleraine," and bears the identification number "I H R No.". The pump is an example of industrial archaeological interest, notable for its style, proportions, and ornamentation.
