Description

Terraced two-bay two-storey stone and brick former worker’s house, built c.1872, as one of nine similar houses (HB05/01/006A-J) and set on an elevated site on the south east side of Garron Road overlooking Red Bay. Pitched natural slate roof with black clay ridge tiles and red brick chimneystacks to either end, shared with adjoining houses. Steel guttering to timber box fascia and steel downpipes. Coursed and snecked rough-hewn white limestone walling with cement pointing. Camber-headed red brick window and door openings with flush brick quoined surrounds, red sandstone sills and original 2/2 sliding timber sash windows with ogee horns. Two-bay two-storey front elevation with a paired ground floor window opening to the right and a central door opening having a vertically-sheeted and glazed timber door and overlight. The door opens onto a concrete paved walkway, shared with the entire terrace. Northeast side adjoining No.4 Seaview Terrace (HB05/01/006D). Rear elevation has two modern dormer windows to rear roof slope. Replacement timber top-hung windows to first floor level. Ground floor has been extended to rear with a small lean-to and a larger monopitch return. Southwest side elevation adjoining No.2 (HB05/01/006B). Setting: Forming part of a terrace of nine similar houses set on an elevated site on the south side of Garron Road with small sloping front gardens, enclosed to the road by hedging and rubblestone walls with concrete steps descending to the road.
