Water Pump, Blackisland Road, Portadown, Craigavon, Co Armagh

This was a cast-iron water pump, erected in 1917 by the Armagh Rural District Council on Blackisland Road, Portadown. It stood approximately 4 feet high and featured a 3-foot diameter rotary handle. The pump was inscribed with the name 'Climax 76', and it was likely manufactured by J. Thomas & Son, of Worcester. It remained in use until the 1960s. The pump was demolished sometime between 1993 and 2004, and the site has since been incorporated into the grass verge of the roadway. The pump was surrounded by a wall topped with railings. It is considered to be of industrial archaeological interest. The site is located in the townland of Annaghmore.
