Description

This is a wall-mounted post box, likely dating from the reign of King George V (1910-1936), and built between 1920 and 1939. It is constructed of cast iron and set into a low rubble stone boundary wall, which itself is of no particular architectural or historic interest. The post box is inscribed with “GR” (referring to King George V) and a raised crown, along with the maker’s mark "T. Allen & Co. London." The post box identification number is not clearly visible. The post box is situated within a wall facing a public road in a rural area. It was manufactured by T. Allen & Co. of London to a standard design. It retains its former and current use as a post box.
