35 Drumfad Road, Drumfad, Millisle, Newtownards, Co Down, BT22 2JQ

35 Drumfad Road is a single storey gabled house of probable early nineteenth century origin, located on the north side of Drumfad Road approximately two miles south of Millisle.

The house is finished in roughcast render with a pitched roof covered in Bangor blue slates and three rendered chimney stacks. PVC rainwater goods are fitted throughout.

The south-facing front facade has been substantially altered in recent times. A large modern gabled porch with timber sheeted door and multi-pane sidelights now dominates the left-centre of the facade. Behind this is the entrance door to the house. This porch post-dates 1973 and is not original. Three modern windows with small 'Georgian'-like panes are positioned to the right of the porch, and two to the left. The window second from the left is a recent opening created where the original second window once stood, at the location of the current porch and door. The window immediately to the right of the porch was originally the entrance. All windows are fitted with decorative but sturdy security bars. The west gable is blank. The east gable contains a window similar in style to those on the front.

The rear of the property is dominated by a large recent flat-roofed extension with modern windows and door. Attached to the east face of the extension is an open porch covering the yard.

Documentary evidence shows a building on this site on Ordnance Survey maps dated 1833–4 and 1858–60, but the house does not appear on the Dunbar estate map of 1797, suggesting construction in the early nineteenth century. The building has recently undergone significant renovation and extension, with alterations to the window and door arrangement on the front facade and the large extension added to the rear.
