Description
This is a cow-tailed pump, likely constructed between 1920 and 1939. It features a head lever and a plain, spirally decorated column topped by a fluted cap with an acorn finial. The pump is inscribed with the name ‘J Miskelly Newtownards’. Originally located in the yard at the rear of Hanna and Brown, Newtownards, it has been recently installed as a garden ornament at 1 Dalton Drive, Comber. Further details can be found in the Environment Heritage Service (EHS) Report 'Water Pumps in Northern Ireland: A Preliminary Survey' by Fred Hammond, January 1997, under Pump no 65.
