Description
The Abbeylands Hotel is a detached, five-bay, two-storey redbrick house constructed c.1930 and facing west. It is set back from Shore Road within its own grounds, located to the east of the road. Extensions and wings were added c.1980. The building is currently in use as a Nursing Home. A detached, three-bay, single-storey gate lodge, formerly situated along Shore Road, has been demolished. The removal of the original distinctive chimneystacks, the addition of glazed sections to the front, and extensive extensions to the rear and north have resulted in a loss of the original character and architectural merit. This building was surveyed during the First Survey but was not listed at that time; a partial record has been taken, and it is not considered worthy of a full Second Survey.
