Description

The former stables and coach house, located 10 meters northwest of Aldon House, dates from the early 19th century and has been converted into a dwelling. It is constructed from ham stone ashlar and features a hipped Welsh slate roof with a wide overhang and heavy timber soffit brackets. The building is two stories tall and has five bays. Most of the ground floor has late 20th-century windows, except for the central bay, which has a projecting tower. This tower includes an arched niche at ground floor level and a plain rectangular recess at first floor level, topped with a blind balustrade panel. Above this, there is a position for a clock, which is surmounted by louvres, a cornice, and a flat roof. On the left side of the building, there are two large stone arches leading to an extension with timber doors and a slated roof above. The wing on the right side has been significantly altered and is not included in the listing.
