Description

Aldon Lodge is a cottage orne built around 1840, serving as a lodge to Aldon House. It is constructed from random coursed cut and squared local stone with worked dressings and features a Welsh slate roof with plain bargeboards on the gables. The building has two storeys and a T-shaped plan.

The road-facing facade includes a projecting gable on the left side, which has a three-light stone mullioned window with a hood on the ground floor. Above this is a small four-light oriel window supported by three timber brackets, topped with a slated roof. To the right of the projection is a one-storey lean-to featuring a seven-light mullioned window and a slated roof, with a two-light dormer/oriel above that has a pitched slate roof and boarded infill. To the left of the projection, there is another one-storey lean-to with a four-light mullioned window. All windows are fitted with cast iron diamond-pane casements.

On the south side elevation, there is a one-storey four-light stone mullioned bay window with a stone roof, and above it is a three-light mullioned window that matches the front windows. The entrance door, which is a 20th-century stable-type, is located in the side of the front lean-to extension. The interior has not been inspected.
