Description

No 70, built around 1840, is a villa located in Yeovil, Hendford. The building features a rendered exterior in a stone color, possibly over brick, and has a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate and wide eaves overhangs. The two-storey facade has three bays with twelve near-squared pane windows on the first floor. There are incised pilaster panels at each end of the facade.

A later 19th-century single-storey extension runs the full length of the facade and is constructed from ashlar Ham stone with a flat roof behind a parapet. This extension includes a centrally located six-panel door, which is accessed by two steps and set within a projecting gabled feature that has a segmental arch with an ornamental keystone and chamfered reveals. Above the door is a shaped fanlight with margins, and on either side are triple sash windows without glazing bars, with the center lights being slightly wider. The building is topped with heavy moulded coping, which has a finial at the gable crown.

The property also features low front boundary walls made of stone, with copings, two end piers, and two gate piers, all contributing to the character of the street scene. The interior has not been seen.
