Description

Abbey Grange, likely dating from the 18th century, is a two-storey building set back from the street. It is constructed of painted ashlar and has a slate roof with 19th-century cresting and eaves. There is a string course. The building features five windows, each with sash glazing bars. The recessed front door has a bolection-moulded architrave and a plain fanlight. A paved forecourt extends to the front of the house, bordered by low walls along the street. The centre of the forecourt is marked by two gate piers with low pyramidal tops, leading to double wooden gates. A further gate pier is located to the left. Abbey Grange is part of a group that includes 19 to 23 (odd numbers) and 1 to 6 (consecutive numbers) Magdalene Street, as well as The Armoury.
