Description

This early 19th-century milepost is located south west of Pilton School House. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a canted top. The milepost features raised uppercase letters with serifs, indicating the distances to Taunton (27 miles), Shepton Mallet (3 miles), and Glastonbury (6 miles). It was created for the Shepton Mallet Turnpike Trust.
