Description
This chest tomb, dating from the late 18th century, is located 3 metres south-south-west of the south-east corner of the chancel at the Church of Saint Bartholomew. It is made of ham stone and features incised lias panels with a rectangular plan. The tomb has a moulded base and two panels on each side, along with one panel at each end, which are adorned with fluted pilasters. The top is a deep moulded hipped design. The beautifully incised panels are now significantly decayed, with only one decipherable inscription mentioning 'John, son of ... died 1799'.
