Description
Weir Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on Weir Lane in Yeovilton. It is constructed from local stone that has been cut, squared, and coursed, with Ham stone dressings on the ground floor. The original thatched roof has been replaced with concrete double Roman tiles, and there are coped gables at either end. The cottage features brick chimney stacks at both ends and the rear.
The building is two stories high and has four bays. On the ground floor, there are three-light hollow chamfered mullioned windows with label moulds, which contain leaded casement windows and central iron opening lights. There is a projecting lean-to porch at bay three, which has a reconstructed stone window screening the entrance door and an older two-light window. Above, there are three-light timber casements, some of which are early examples, with the window in bay three featuring very small leaded panes.
