Description

This is a cottage, likely dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the early and late 20th century. It is constructed of local stone, squared and coursed, featuring exposed timber lintols above the ground-floor openings. The roof is now covered with concrete double Roman tiles, replacing what was originally thatch. Brick chimney stacks are located at the ends and centre of the roof. The cottage is single-storey with an attic, and has four bays. The entrance door is situated between bays two and three, and is probably from the early 20th century, with a flat timber hood supported by heavy brackets. There are two-light casement windows, with a three-light window in bay four, all featuring small leaded panes. A lower window in bay four retains an older casement style with an iron opening light. The attic windows are set into raked dormers. The cottage contributes to a picturesque group with Weir Cottage at the end of the village.
