Description
Moorland Cottage is a detached cottage with origins dating back to the 17th century, modified in the 19th century. It is constructed from roughly cut and squared ham stone and features a clay pantiled roof with plain gables and brick chimney stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays. On the ground floor, there are hollow-chamfered mullioned windows; bay 1 has a 4-light window set in a wave-mould recess with a label, while bay 3 has a 3-light window without a label, both featuring vertical iron bars on the inside. Between these windows, there is evidence of a blocked doorway. Above, the upper storey has 2-light horizontal-bar casements. The north gable includes a 2-light mullioned window with a label, and below this is a colourwashed brick lean-to built in English garden wall bond, topped with a pantiled roof. The entrance to the cottage is located at the rear. The interior has not been seen.
