Description
This is an earlier 18th-century house on a corner site, with later 18th and 19th-century modifications. It is constructed of roughly cut and squared ham stone, with ashlar dressings. The roof is of undulating plain clay tile, between high stepped coped gables that indicate a former thatched appearance. Brick end stack chimneys are also present. The house is two storeys high with attics, and has four bays. A band course runs above the lower windows. The windows are casement windows with horizontal glazing bars, with 4-light windows in the outer bays and 3-light windows on the upper floors. These windows have rusticated voussoirs and keystoned heads. An 8-panel door, with the four upper panels glazed, sits in a deep panelled recess, featuring a timber architrave and an open pediment of uncertain date. The east gable has 12-pane sash windows in simple stone architraves on each level, including in the attic, with the first-floor window having thicker glazing bars. A rear extension, likely from the late 18th century, has irregular and varied window openings. The ground floor of the extension features a 3-light mullioned window in a simple architrave, while three windows are present on the first floor and an attic dormer window is visible. The south gable contains a 19th-century door and a first-floor casement window, along with a 12-pane sash window in a beaded stone surround in the attic. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
