Description

Fives Court Wall is a structure probably dating from the late 18th century. It is built of ham stone rubble with an ashlar face and dressings. The wall measures about 5 metres wide and stands 7 to 8 metres high, with a back that steps to three thicknesses. The top features shouldered segmental coping with ball finials on the kneelers and crown. There is a small plaque set high on the west side, though the inscription is not legible. This wall originally stood in the grounds of the Crown Hotel, which were developed in the late 20th century; it is now located in the front garden of a bungalow.
