Description

This is a lamp-post located near number 16 at The Retreat in Frome, likely made between 1901 and 1904 by Singer. It features a cast-iron fluted standard with pedestal mouldings, a tapered shaft, and ladder-rests. At the top, there is a moulded finial with a crook-shaped lamp bracket that has wrought-iron Art Nouveau leaf decoration. The lamp itself is modern. The lamp standard seems to have originally been designed for gas lighting but has been adapted for electricity. It is similar to other listed lamp-posts in Frome.
