Description

This lamp post, located opposite numbers 20 and 21 on Castle Street, was constructed between 1901 and 1904 by the local art-metal firm of Singers. It features a cast iron standard with a crook designed to suspend lamps, and the crooks are adorned with art nouveau style ornamentation. This lamp post has been adapted for town lighting and represents an early provincial example of electrification.
