Description

21 Castle Street is a late 17th century to early 18th century building that was altered in the mid-19th century. It has two storeys and is constructed of rubble with block dressings, topped by a pantile roof. The façade features two windows with cross-glazed sashes and a central six-panel door. The gable end reveals the roof-line of an earlier one-and-a-half storey elevation. The building has an 'L' plan with a gabled stair turret at the angle. Inside, there are important features including moulded risers on the winder staircase, a mast newel, and a moulded handrail across the landing. There is also a pair of first-floor landing doors with stopped ovolo surrounds.
