Description
College Place and the boundary walls to numbers 7, 8, and 9 is a group of buildings that includes an 18th-century house with a symmetrical design. The main building, number 8, is three storeys tall, while the slightly projecting wings, numbers 7 and 9, are two storeys. There are two-storey extensions to the right in a simpler style, which are numbers 10 and 11. The main house is constructed of ashlar, while numbers 10 and 11 are rendered, featuring corner piers. The windows are arranged in a pattern of 2:5:2:3, with sash windows that have glazing bars set in slight rebates. Number 9 has cross-casements, and the outer windows of numbers 10 and 11 are made of plate glass. Numbers 10 and 11 also have glazed ground floor lean-tos. The building has a parapet with balusters between the windows, a cornice, and garlands in recessed panels. The central door of the main block features a pedimented Doric entablature supported by two plain Doric columns, and the door itself has eight panels with raised and fielded designs. The roof is slate, with ashlar end chimneys capped with modillions.
