Description

WEST COKER CP HIGH STREET (South side) ST5113 9/281 The former stable block, 20 metres South South East of No. 7 High Street - GV II

Stables and coach house, now surgery. Possibly adaptation of a C17 building. Local stone rubble and Ham stone ashlar; double Roman clay tiles between stepped coped gables, with some glass tiles as rooflights. Modern garage doors and segmental arched recess in North wall. In East gable two hollow chamfer mullioned windows at first floor level; set between them small sculpture of two figures, with plinth and hood, about 400mm high, and above this a small carved head. Interior (adapted) not seen. A single storey extension to the North, separated by a glazed roof, not included in this list. Forms complimentary group with No.17 High Street.
